Dynamic Coefficient of Friction (DCOF)
The dynamic coefficient of friction, also known as DCOF, is the a measurement that determines how much friction, or slip resistance, there is on wet, level floors when walked upon.

According to the American National Safety Institute, the ANSI Standard A326.3 interior floors should have a DCOF value of no less than 0.42 for level walkways intended to be walked upon when wet, to be considered safe floors. But research suggests it's necessary to raise the DCOF much higher to increase reduce the risk of slip and fall accidents on wet surfaces.
How Floor Friction Measures Up

Floor Friction uses Sure Step Non-Slip in our treatments. Sure Step DCOF was measured in an independent laboratory test, and results are shown below.

According to the Tile Council of North America, a floor treated with Sure Step is actually safer wet than when dry.
SSI, NY conducted testing at a Texas lab in accordance with The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) A326.3, "Test Method for Measuring Dynamic Coefficient of Friction (DCOF) of Hard Surface Floor Materials". The above charts represent the average result of thirty-six (36) dynamic measurements that were taken on each of the porcelain and ceramic tiles. All data was recorded.
